About

About

Equal Steps is an inspiring European Erasmus+ project that supports families through learning about gender equality. It creates simple, practical resources to help parents, educators, and communities better understand and tackle gender inequality and gender-based violence.

By bringing people together and encouraging open conversations, Equal Steps helps build inclusive learning spaces where families can learn, grow, and make positive changes together.

At its heart, Equal Steps is about everyday impact, helping families feel more confident talking about important issues, supporting children in a changing world, and giving educators the tools they need to guide these conversations in a safe and meaningful way.

Our goals and objectives

  • Bring gender equality into everyday learning by giving families and educators simple, practical ways to explore these topics together.
  • Encourage open conversations across generations so parents, children, and educators can learn from each other and challenge stereotypes.
  • Support educators with practical tools and training to deliver engaging and inclusive learning in their communities.
  • Drive lasting change in communities and policy by highlighting the role of adult education in building a more equal society.

We are here for you

Equal Steps is made for parents and caregivers, adult educators, and professionals who support families and communities in their everyday work. It also reaches organisations, partners, and anyone interested in learning more and taking part in the conversation around equality.

A key focus of the project is making sure learning is open and accessible to everyone, especially those who may face extra barriers. Equal Steps is about inclusion, connection, and making sure no one is left out of the conversation.

What we develop

The project delivers a range of practical and impactful resources, including a gender equality awareness campaign, a six-module parenting programme, and a blended learning course for practitioners. It also produces a comprehensive resource pack, an innovative family learning board game, and a policy-focused White Paper. Together, these results provide sustainable tools and insights to support families, educators, and organisations in promoting gender equality across Europe.
